Scripture Reference:
• "This is the word of the LORD: Not by might, nor
by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts." [Zech 4:6]
• "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit
comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all
Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." [Acts 1:8]
• "But this is that which was spoken by the
prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I
will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your
daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your
old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I
will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy"
[Joel 2:28-29]
WE LIVE IN EXCITING TIMES:
The scriptures tell us that these last days leading up to the
return of the Lord Jesus Christ (The times we live in) will be a time
where the power of the Holy Ghost will be poured out like never before
in the history of mankind.
What’s even more exciting is that the Bible assures us the God’s people
have been given the SAME power that Jesus had (and still has) by the
anointing of the Holy Ghost – and it is by HIS power working IN us and
THRU us that the fulfillment of God’s plan on earth WILL be
accomplished.
If we are ever going to experience the full power of the anointing in
our life then we must come to the place where we understand this
anointing, and how it work in our life. The best way to do this is to
examine how this anointing worked in the life of Jesus – and what the
Scriptures say about it and its affect in us and thru us as children of
Almighty God.
BEFORE AND AFTER:
When we look at the scriptures we can immediately recognize that Jesus
NEVER did even one miracle BEFORE He was anointed by the Holy Spirit.
Yes, He was (and remains forever) the only begotten Son of God. Yes, He
was with God in the beginning and yes all things were made by Him. [John
1:1-3]
All that the Scriptures say about Jesus and His deity is true. However,
what most people are unaware of is the when Jesus came to earth, He came
in the form of a man: NOT a supernatural man – Just simply a man.
Scriptures tells us that He EMPTIED Himself of all His divine powers and
attributes and came to us in the SAME form and SAME fashion that we are.
• "He (Jesus) always had the nature of God, but he
did not think that by force he should try to remain equal with God.
Instead of this, of his own free will he gave up all he had, and took
the nature of a servant. He became like a human being and appeared in
human likeness."
[Phil 2:6-7 GNB]
Jesus was completely human, and as a human being He had no more power or
abilities than and other human being, nor did He have any less. However,
something changed drastically when the Holy Ghost descended upon Him –
INDWELLING Him. Suddenly He had a power that previously lacked – and it
was this ANOINTING that enabled Him to do all the miracles He did while
on earth.
• "HOW GOD ANOINTED JESUS OF NAZARETH WITH THE
HOLY GHOST AND WITH POWER: who went about doing good, and healing all
that were oppressed of the devil; FOR GOD WAS WITH HIM." [Acts
10:38]
Notice that it was the ANOINTING that empowered Jesus of Nazareth to do
the miracles. And, it was Jesus Himself who said that WITHOUT that
anointing He had no power to do ANYTHING. Yet, because of the anointing
that comes thru the indwelling of the Spirit of God He was empowered
because it was the Father working THRU Him that was actually doing the
miracles.
• "Verily, verily, I say unto you, THE SON CAN DO
NOTHING OF HIMSELF, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things
soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise" [John 5:19]
• "...the words that I speak unto you I speak not
of myself: BUT THE FATHER THAT DWELLETH IN ME, HE DOETH THE WORKS."
[John 14:10]
HE GAVE THAT SAME POWER TO THE CHURCH:
That’s right! No matter how unbelievable it sounds, Scriptures tell us
that God in His great wisdom and His everlasting mercy and grace gave US
that SAME power – that SAME anointing by the SAME Spirit.
• "Don't you know that You are the temple of the
Living God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?" [1
Corinthians 3:16]
• "But YOU WILL RECEIVE POWER WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT
COMES ON YOU; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all
Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." [Acts 1:8]
• "BUT YOU HAVE AN ANOINTING FROM THE HOLY ONE,
and you know the truth.... And, the anointing you received from him
remains in you." [1John 2:20,27]
ANOINTED WITH POWER:
Christians are a supernatural people that have been supernaturally
empowered by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. We born again into a
supernatural life by a supernatural God - We are sustained by
supernatural food - We are taught by a supernatural teacher from a
supernatural book - We are led by a supernatural guide into supernatural
paths in order to obtain supernatural victories
There is a REASON why we have been anointed with the power of the Holy
Spirit – and the reasons are listed in the scriptures. Here are just a
few:
• To be witnesses to the TRUTH of the Gospel [Acts 1:8]
• To heal the Sick [Mark 16:17-18]
• To raise the dead [Matt 10:8]
• To bring deliverance to the captives [Luke 4:18]
• To bring recovery of sight to the blind [Luke 4:18]
• To cast out devils [Mark 16:17-18]
• To prosper in whatever we put our hand to [3John 2]
• To proclaim the year of the Lord's favor! [Luke 4:19]
Beloved, we have been anointed with power for just such a time as we now
live. And our mission is to bring the truth of the Gospel of Christ to
this world not just in words – but in DEMONSTRATION OF THE SPIRIT WITH
POWER.
"For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in
power." [1 Corinthians 4:20]
Let us imitate the Apostle Paul who wrote: "And my
speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but
in DEMONSTRATION OF THE SPIRIT AND OF POWER: That your faith should not
stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God"
[1 Corinthians 2:4-5]
We are no longer just ordinary men and women: We are a SUPERNATURAL
people indwelt and ANOINTED WITH POWER by the Holy Spirit of the Living
God. So I encourage you to be bold in your faith – Be bold in the Lord –
Be bold in your witness for Christ – Because it is the LORD Himself that
dwells in us. And, as we boldly proclaim the mercy, grace and power of
God to a dying world He WILL show Himself strong on our behalf.
